I had some sponges over the years, but none of them was very pretty and noticeable. When an opportunity to get one came along, I got very interesting looking sponges that truly resemble ..chicken feet.
There are various opinions if sponges can be removed out of water and I tell you that it is really hard to acclimatize 7 inch long sponge and transfer it from a bag to a tank without pouring bag water into a tank and at the same time, not to expose a sponge to air.
I did multiple water changes and surely I had to introduce a bit of bag water into my tank... And now the question was what to do with such long/tall sponge..Glue it under water was one option, but highly impractical. So, I just let it be on the bottom and support it with some rock.
I placed it near the circulation pump to provide steady, but too strong water current. So, far after 4 months, so good and one of the red fingers is visibly growing and another one seems to get some damage - most likely by exposing to air or to adjacent rocks that scratched its body.
Here are my sponges!
